London has four airports, and London Heathrow is the largest. London Gatwick may be the second largest, but it is Europe’s leading airport for point to point flights. To research the other airports click on this link http://www.londontoolkit.com
When we fly into London Heathrow we head straight to Central Bus Station located at Heathrow Airport. The journey time is longer than catching a train from London Victoria Station, but the prices can’t be beaten www.gobycoach.com
London Gatwick is 5km from the nearest city, Crawley, and 47.5km away from the city of London. You can find accommodations around the Gatwick area, for half the price of staying in London, and enjoy those essential amenities.
We’ve stayed in quite a few hotels and guesthouse in Crawley area and our favorite is Premiere Inn London Gatwick Airport South. The hotel is built on the site of a Gatwick Manor, guests can enjoy a meal at the olde worldly Pub, and then stroll through the most amazing tranquil gardens. We were ten minutes from Gatwick Airport but the hotel’s peaceful setting made my husband and I feel like we were in the middle of the English countryside. Check out my upcoming blog for my review of this hotel.
We stay in Gatwick, year after year, and always choose the speedy Gatwick Express to sightsee in historical London. Travel time on this dedicated rail line is 30 minutes, and trains leave every fifteen minutes. For up to date information check out their website.
